Sharing Data for the Purpose of Research / Analysis
This initiative is aimed at promoting and supporting research in the field of commodity derivatives markets by providing access to relevant data for research and analysis. For this purpose, ‘Data’ is segregated into two baskets as follows:
Data in the first basket will be those which can be shared with the public, which includes aggregate and analyzed data only.
This basket also includes reporting and disclosure data that are mandated by the regulators. No personal, sensitive or confidential information shall be made available. Data in this basket will include the following:
(a) Data which is publicly available on our website, i.e. Basket 1(a)
(b) Data which is voluminous and cannot be placed on our website, i.e. Basket 1(b)
Data in the second basket will contain information that cannot be shared with the public. These data would include, for instance, KYC information/ trade logs/ holding details of an entity/ individual, etc. with the identity of the entity/ individual. This would also include anonymized data that could be used to identify an individual/ entity directly or indirectly.
The data seeker/s shall raise the request by filling the “data seeking request form” (Click here to download the form) and sending the form with necessary details to the Data Feed Department at NCDEX (datafeed@ncdex.com). The data seeker shall justify as to how the particular data sought is necessary for his/her/its/their research project to test the specific hypothesis.
All requests for data shall be submitted only though accredited academic institutions / research institutions to which the data seeker is affiliated.

The above shall be in conformity with guidelines as per SEBI’s Circular No. SEBI/HO/DEPA-II/DEPA-II_SRG/P/CIR/2024/178, dated 20 December, 2024 and other relevant guidelines, if any issued by SEBI from time to time.

#An indicative list of such data (including shareable anonymized data that cannot be used to identify an individual/ entity directly or indirectly), would be made available and the Exchange would provide a reasonable amount of data requested by a researcher free of cost (up to 2 GB of data per researcher per year that requires no extra computation). However, if the requested data is very high in volume and/or needs further processing/ value addition, the Exchange may charge a cost-basis fee from the researcher to process and provide such data.
